I have for sale my kit car, built between 2003 and 2009. The car was built and SVA tested with the Vauxhall C20XE 'Red top' engine. The car was built slowly and precisely by myself, I am an aircraft engineer and have built the car to a very high standard So much so, the VOSA inspector who carried out the SVA test commented on it being the best built Robin Hood he had seen in his 15 years as an inspector. As it only passed the SVA test last year it is classed as a new car and therefore doesn't require an MOT until three years after registration. The car was built using a brand new kit and all components are either new or were reconditioned prior to fitting. All brake components were brand new on build. The car has full indepandant suspension with adjustable coilovers on all corners. The front is factory standard double wishbones with wire-locked lower ball joint for safety. New wheel bearings have been fitted all round. The steering column has been upgraded to accept a sherical ball bearing rather than the standard plastic bush as per the donor which is prone to wear. This gives super precise feel to the steering. The steering rack is again a brand new item. The engine has been professionally rebuilt and reconditioned. During this process the cylinder head has been pressure tested, chemically cleaned then ported and polished intake and exhaust ports matching the SB Developments alloy intake manifold. The engine block was again chemically cleaned and rebuilt with new bearings and piston rings. It is currently protected with high temp aluminium paint. It is fitted with a new SB Developments Alloy low profile sump and modified oil pick up pipe. It is correctly baffled for the longitudinal mounting in this application. The engine is mated to the gearbox with an SBD alloy bell housing with an SBD kevlar clutch plate mating the Vauxhall engine perfectly to the Ford Type 9 gearbox. The gearbox was serviced and modified to include a short throw gear shift. The car is fitted with a 30L stainless steel fuel tank, Facet solid state fuel pump feeding twin Weber 45 carbs. Bought brand new and fitted with Ram Flow low profile, cleanable air filters. The ignition is managed by a new, professionally built Mega Jolt Lite ECU and Ford EDIS ignition system. The exhaust is a 4-2-1 manifold into a large silencer with stainless heat shield. At 4000RPM it is 96dB. The wheels are new and fitted with Yokohama tyres. Having only covered 1300 miles they are in mint condition. Inside the car, it is fitted with new bucket seats incorporating tilt and slide enabling most people to comfortably drive it. You are held in by new Sabelt harnesses. They are designed specifically for this type of car and include reverse tightening on the lap belts which is an expensive option often skimped. this enables easy tightening of the lap belt portion without having to struggle down the side of the car (which is a very tight fit) The steering wheel is a leather OMP wheel and OMP steering boss. To the right of the steering wheel is the Thatcham immobiliser. This is a necessity for most insurers. There is also a hidden battery cut off acting as a secondary immobiliser. It also has a remote alarm which is activated by motion or voltage change in the cars electronic circuit. The dash is home to a DigiDash 2. This fully electronic dash houses all warning lights and gauges. It is fitted with the optional GPS reciever which gives warnings of speed cameras and also gives the ability for lap timing. The dash features full data logging which can be downloaded to your laptop with the supplied cable. The body is beautifully finished in blue and black with two layers of clear laquer to give a brilliant shine. The paint was applied by a local paint shop that specialise in high value cars so the finish is exemplary. The engine recieved a tune after rebuild and was set up on a rolling road. It produces 160bhp at the wheels which is 185bhp at the engine. This means the car is very fast. It sounds fantastic and gets admiring views from everyone as you drive by. I am reluctant to sell as I really do love the car and wouldn't sell but I need the room in the garage for my next project. Viewing is highly recommended as the pictures really do not do it justice. |
